Spock wasn't the social type. He didn't do as well as a Human when it came to gatherings like these, but as the First Officer of the Federation's flagship and no where to hide from the Captain for it, Spock had to go.

There were various ambassadors on board, stationed in large guest quarters on the ship, which was heading towards the planetoid Babel in the Alpha Quadrant. There was to be a conference there between various species on the division of dilithium between them, trying to make it fair and what not.

The Vulcan was in his quarters, pulling on the shirt for his dress uniform with a sigh. He didn't want to go, these things were better for Kirk and John, not him.

Spock heads to the bridge, the feeling of John's kiss still lingering on his skin as he takes his position on the bridge. It was a ship that wasn't a Klingon - amazingly - but from the scans and Scotty's knowledge of ships, it seemed to be Orion.

A battle was engaged, with the Orions demanding for the ambassadors and various other representatives not be taken to Babel. They didn't give reasons why, and Kirk ordered for shields to go up. Not three seconds after that order was given and carried out, the battle engaged.

John gets medical ready for the incoming wounded barking orders and slamming his hand down on the intercom.

"What in the hell is going on."

The ship shakes under another blast that grazes a part of the ship.

"We are being attacked, Leonard." Spock answers, since Kirk is busy arguing with Scotty about how much their shields can handle damn it. "They do not wish to negotiate over taking the ambassadors on the ship to the planet Babel."

"Great fucking great." John shuts off the comm as wounded from the hit decks start to come in and he gets to work

About to retort that such explicitness weren't needed, the communication was shut off before Spock turned back to the situation at hand. The battle was getting worse, the shields were starting to weaken a bit after each successive blow.

Jim was still giving orders while Spock and Scott were trying to pinpoint a section of the opposing ship that was weak - anything to deal damage to it to stop it from firing. All the firing, if the Commander were Human, would be making him nervous with how close the reports were saying it was getting to the level that Medical was situated on.

The warning lights are blaring and John is doing surgery on some poor kid from engineering, when the ship rocks again. "Goddamn it. When are they going to get this shit under control." He curses, patching the kid up enough so he wont die, so can move on to the next, he hopes and prays that their will be enough time and ship to throughly patch these kids up later.
